Tory Donor Apologizes For Racist Comments About Diane Abbott

Tory donor apologizes for racist comments about Diane Abbott

Who is Tory donor Frank Hester and what did he say about Diane Abbott?

Diane Abbott says it is frightening to hear what Tory donor Frank Hester said about her as it.

A major Tory donor has apologised after allegedly saying Diane Abbott is "ugly" and "too black" to be a woman. Frank Hester, who has donated more than £1m to the Conservative party, was secretly recorded making the comments at a Conservative fundraising event.

Abbott, the Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, said the comments were "racist and wrong" and that she was "frightened" by them. "These comments are not only racist and wrong, but they are also deeply offensive," she said. "It is frightening to hear someone say such things about me, and it is even more frightening to think that someone who has donated so much money to the Conservative party would hold such views."

Hester has since apologised for his comments, saying that he is "deeply sorry" for the "hurt and distress" he has caused. "I am a Conservative and a supporter of the party, but I do not share the views expressed in the recording," he said. "I deeply regret the comments I made and I apologise unreservedly to Ms Abbott and to anyone else who has been offended."

The Conservative party has also condemned Hester's comments, saying that they are "completely unacceptable" and that he has been suspended from the party pending an investigation. "The Conservative party does not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind," a party spokesperson said. "We are committed to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all."
